Worship music at Kirkwood UCC takes a variety of forms, from childhood favorites and traditional hymns to “rock star” songs that bring out the performer in everyone. After all, our congregation represents a diversity of religious traditions, so we try to reflect that in our music.
The Kirkwood Choir sings for worship two to three times a month and practices every Wednesday from 7-8 p.m. The choir covers a range of music including traditional choral arrangements, spirituals, hymns, adapted pop music and bluegrass. At Kirkwood UCC, we’re open to singing anything that speaks to your spirit. New choir members are always welcome. You don’t need to read music or be the best vocalist around, you only need to love singing.
And if singing isn’t your thing, there are plenty of worship opportunities for small ensembles or soloists. In the past we’ve featured brass quartets, bagpipes, banjo solos, piano and we’re always open to new musical experiences. Our music ministers Karen and Bones are eager not only to share their musical gifts but also to encourage others to develop and share their musical gifts with the congregation.
