Advent and Christmas

Picture
Even as we begin to imagine this Advent season, the hopes and fears of all the years are not kept at bay. As we prepare to celebrate the coming of the Light of Life, we still find ourselves in a world of hurt. And the truth is, our country—at this moment in history—is not so different from the world into which Jesus was born.
The Empire sought to keep those on the margins right where they were, while the powerful grasped for more power. There were wars and rumors of wars. Moral decay seemed to spread, with violence and venom at the core. Had the people lost hope? Had they let go of the promise of peace, forgotten their joy, given up on love?

Into that very moment, Jesus was born.

Beloveds, can we open our hearts, our minds, and our communities—and allow Jesus to be born, once more, into this very moment?

Longest Night Service

This worship time together leads with song and scripture into the Story that holds us together.  On the longest night of the year--when it might not feel like or seem like the "most wonderful time of the year," we'll gather to wait and watch for the LIGHT that is drawing near and nearer.  We'll gather after the 5pm worship service to hold this special time together.
