We cleaned, painted, and setup classrooms. Thanks to everyone who helped. If you couldn't make it on Saturday the 21st, we're doing it again on Saturday, October 28.

Thanks to the 15 volunteers for coming out to work!

Construction of our New Sanctuary
It was a great day of celebration as we ordained Charmaine Penn Johnson as a minister in the United Church of Christ and then installed her as Associate Minister at KUCC.

One Big Day at Kirkwood UCC
It was a busy day at KUCC. In the afternoon we went out into the community to share love by providing warm clothes, food and other essentials to folks on the street. That evening we had an overflow crowd for worship and the children's pageant ("A Charlie Brown Christmas"). After church we loaded up two trailers and trucks and caroled around Kirkwood, then went back to the ChurchHouse for the annual Men's Chili Cook-off. It was a fabulous way to celebrate the season.

Lanta Gras 2016
As the "United Realm of Rhythm" KUCC particpated in the first annual Lanta Gras in Kirkwood.
Lanta Gras is a parade with purpose. The mission is to build community and opportunities for children through the common bond of music. The goal is to establish a program offering brass and percussion musical instruction to middle school and high school children within the historic Atlanta neighborhoods of Kirkwood and East Lake.
The hope is to provide the instruments, mentorship and instruction to start local Brass Bands, highlighting our children at festivals, events and parades throughout Atlanta.
Thanks to Susan Anderson and David Light for the photos.

Clay Creations: Meditations on The Potter's House
Jeremiah 18:1-11 The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD: "Come, go down to the potter's house, and there I will let you hear my words." So I went down to the potter's house, and there he was working at his wheel. The vessel he was making of clay was spoiled in the potter's hand, and he reworked it into another vessel, as seemed good to him. Then the word of the LORD came to me: Can I not do with you, O house of Israel, just as this potter has done? says the LORD. Just like the clay in the potter's hand, so are you in my hand,
O house of Israel. At one moment I may declare concerning a nation or a kingdom, that I will pluck up and break down and destroy it, but if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turns from its evil, I will change my mind about the disaster that I intended to bring on it. And at another moment I may
declare concerning a nation or a kingdom that I will build and plant it, but if it does evil in my sight, not listening to my voice, then I will change my mind about the good that I had intended to do to it. Now, therefore, say to the people of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem: Thus says the LORD: Look, I am a potter shaping evil against you and devising a plan against you. Turn now, all of you from your evil way, and amend your ways and your doings.
