COVID-19 UPDATE

Welcome to KUCC--we're glad you're here. As we want to be faithful to COVID-19 protocols put in place for everyone's safety, we recognize the space between us. We pray that through our KUCC morning prayer time, zoom gatherings and online worship, that the space between us will decrease and sincere connections will be made. We lovingly invite you to join us for any or all of the following gatherings. Everyone-Everyone-Everyone is WELCOME. YOU are in OUR Prayers!

SPIRITUAL LEARNING COMMUNITIES

Picture
This month our monthly KUCC Book Chat will lift up Jesus and the Disinherited by mystic theologian Howard Thurman.  First published in 1949, this influential book was instrumental in shaping the civil rights movement, ultimately impacting and changing the history of this nation forever.  According to Vincent Harding’s foreword, this seminal work “is the centerpiece of the Black prophet-mystic’s lifelong attempt to bring the harrowing beauty of the African-American experience into deep engagement with what he called ‘the religion of Jesus.’ Ultimately, his goal was to offer this humanizing combination as the basis for emancipatory way of being, moving toward a fundamentally unchained life that is available to all the women and men everywhere who hunger and thirst for righteousness, especially those ‘who stand with their backs against the wall.’”
We will gather together on Zoom at 7pm-8:30pm on Wednesday, February 24 for this Book Chat.  Hope you can join for another lively discussion this month!

“What are the things that you can’t see that are important? I would say justice, truth, humility, service, compassion and love...They’re the guiding lights of life.”                                                                                                         – President Jimmy Carter

Friends, this month we will gather for a time of sharing in community for our quarterly Meditation Monday.  Our first 2021 Meditation Monday will be held on Monday, February 22, at 7-8pm.  The contemplative voice we will lift up this month is the voice of President Jimmy Carter, an international leader who spent decades providing an exceptional labor of love to advance democracy and human rights, to promote peace as well as economic and social development.  Linda Stone will facilitate our time together.  We hope you can join us for our first 2021 quarterly Meditation Monday as we gather for a time of sharing in community as we lift up the voice of President Jimmy Carter.

FOOD PANTRY NEEDS

Friends you have been so generous in stocking our pantry and we have been able to share your bountiful offerings with so many folks in our neighborhood. So much so that our pantry is running low. Here’s what we need: canned vegetables, hearty soups, mac n cheese, beans, fruit, instant Oatmeal, cereal, instant coffee, sugar and creamer. You can drop them on the porch at the ChurchHouse and We'll get them out to folks ASAP!

As we enter into the final stretch of 2020, it is time to start thinking and about 2021.  Part of my role as KUCC Treasurer is to begin planning our finances so that our church can operate and accomplish our goals in the coming year.  Fortunately, I don’t need to do this alone; I have the help of our pastoral staff, our Servant Leadership Team, our Finance Committee, and you!  During the next month, you will be invited to reflect and discern how you wish to commit your time, talents, and finances to KUCC in 2021.  Then, as a community we will decide how to make the best use of all our committed resources throughout the coming year.
