Larry Gipson, one of our student ministers for 2015-16, has been involved in various aspects of ministry since he first felt God’s calling at 13 years old. Baptized and confirmed in the UCC when he was 14 years old, Larry has also been a regular worshiper in Baptist, Episcopalian, Lutheran, and Presbyterian settings.
Born and raised in the suburbs outside Washington, DC, Larry went to college at Yale and served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ukraine before coming to Atlanta in 2014. Although new to the South, he’s quickly come to love Southern living, especially the hospitality, barbecue, and genuine human warmth people share with one another.
Larry is currently a second year Master of Divinity Student at Candler School of Theology, where he is pursuing a concentration in Scripture and Interpretation. His favorite courses involve preaching, pastoral care, and Biblical studies. He hopes to use his time at KUCC to make connections between his studies and the life of the church today.
Outside of church and school, Larry enjoys a variety of hobbies, including comic books, strength training, computer games, and cooking.
