Kirkwood United Church of Christ is excited to worship with three world-renowned preachers, teachers and authors in September during a time of celebration and revival.
You may ask “Why a ‘REVIVAL’ at a ‘Progressive’ Church???” This is what Rev. Susannah Davis writes:
“As we anticipate this Preach a Palooza/Revival time at KUCC, some of you have shared with me your revival stories and many have sounded more like survival stories. Worship times filled with manipulation and coercion, with strings attached. Magic tricks all over — get right or get left — turn or burn! That’s not what we’re going for during these three Sundays at KUCC. One of the definitions for revival is about Spiritual Renewal. That is what we’re going for here — for us — AND for any other kind soul that happens to end up here. A Spiritual renewal that either reminds us, or INVITES us, to God’s peace that pass our understanding — to the Grace of Jesus Christ that can wash over everyone-everyone-everyone, and to the Holy Spirit — who with love, more than we can comprehend — will set our hearts free, moving us past ourselves-our selfishness, to the other – to ONE another.”
Our concluding speaker, Rev. Dr. Tom Long, was named one of the “12 Most Effective Preachers in the English-Speaking World” by Baylor University. He literally wrote the book on preaching that seminarians use around the world.
Join us as we hear a progressive, powerful and prayerful word from these outstanding preachers inspired by our “Still Speaking” God.
On the 28th we’ll gather under the Big Tent out back for worship followed by a good old-fashioned covered dish “Dinner on the Grounds” following worship. Join us for REVIVAL![ezcol_1third]
