Special Services

Blessing of the Backpacks

When back-to-school time comes around each August, we gather all our students for a back-to-school Blessing of the Backpacks during our worship service. This event also happens in conjunction with our annual effort to provide backpacks and school supplies for our neighbors in need.

Blessing of the Animals

Yes, even the furrier members of your household have a place in God’s creation! Dogs, cats, bunnies, snakes, birds — whatever form your special friend takes, bring them to the annual KUCC Blessing of the Animals for some pet-focused prayers and a chance to meet and greet new friends. We host this special service in Bessie Branham Park in Kirkwood each September.

Taizé Worship Service

Every once in a while, the KUCC congregation takes things down a notch and fills the sanctuary with a traditional Taize Worship celebration. These serene, peaceful services provide us with the chance to share in meditative worship, praise and song. For more information on Taize worship, visit the Official Taizé Community website here.
