DAVID KING

Music Minister
EMAIL DAVID KING
Singer/songwriter David Robert King has spent most of his life loving and leading music for folks in the church. He has served as a worship leader in several different communities, and now brings his considerable talent to Kirkwood UCC.

David has toured the world with rock, folk, and bluegrass groups, his band Lystra’s Silence, and extensively as a solo artist. He has shared the stage with Grammy winners and music legends, including Josh Ritter, Loudon Wainwright III, Darrell Scott, Over the Rhine, and Don Henry. In 2010, his debut E.P. “Take Me Home” was in the top 40 on the Folk Music Charts. In 2011 he released the full-length album “Midnight in Gloryland” to fan and critical acclaim before disappearing into the coastal northeast. In the summer of 2015 David was lured from hiatus by an invitation to the stage of the legendary Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, TN.

David has a Master’s Degree in Special Education and by day he can be found in a City of Decatur Public Schools special education classroom teaching students with diverse learning needs. His lovely wife Marita – who is also a musician – is a Physicians Assistant with Emory Healthcare.
