YOU are invited to a gathering in the Church House on
Wednesday, November 12th from 7:00 -- 8:30 pm to join a conversation about...MONEY! |
Are you looking at the ceiling and squirming? If so, you are not alone. It has been said that the two subjects that cause the most conflict between families are sex and money. At the Thanksgiving table we are often cautioned about subjects that simply shouldn't be brought up, including money. And yet, the truth is that our giving is one important way we witness to what we value. This meeting will be an opportunity to reflect together on what we truly love about our beloved Kirkwood UCC, and how we support our church with our giving in all ways including financially.
This evening meeting is a time of testimony, of listening, and of naming our hopes for our congregation as we contemplate the next turn in the journey we are taking together. Perhaps it will be a time too, of getting beyond our discomfort at talking about money, and sharing instead those ministries and dreams that our giving can lift up and empower." |
BOOK CHAT
Gratitude by Oliver Sacks is our selection for our next Book Chat.
Tentative date for discussion is December 3rd @ 7pm on zoom.
“It is the fate of every human being,” Sacks writes, “to be a unique individual, to find his own path, to live his own life, to die his own death.” Together, these four essays form an ode to the uniqueness of each human being and to gratitude for the gift of life." - Oliver Sacks
